Mandarin | 普通话

Mandarin Chinese (普通话 pǔtōnghuà) is the most common first language in the world, spoken natively by 1 billion people, with hundreds of millions more speaking it fluently as a second language. I have been teaching Mandarin for several years, and am experienced and qualified in teaching it in an effective and entertaining manner.

Chinese characters can look quite intimidating, however it is important to realise that, unlike with European language, written and spoken Chinese are quite distinct. This allows for a two step approach, where you first learn listening and speaking, and then maybe later focusing on reading and writing.

Pinyin is a romanisation of Mandarin Chinese, allowing the pronunciation of Chinese characters to be written down using the Latin alphabet. Pinyin is used on this website alongside Chinese characters, and is a very useful tool when it comes to learning Mandarin.
